So you want to be a writer.
I have a niggling thought which has been pushing me for attention for a few years now – the thought that I would love to be a writer.
The idea of being a novelist is very appealing – and every time I start thinking about potential stories I feel so much more excited and energized than I ever do in my day job – and although I don’t necessarily have any hopes of being able to quit my job and do this full time I think that it’s something that I really need to do for myself at some point – and what better time than now!
So What’s the Plan
Everything that I’ve read so far seems to suggest that there are a number of things that any aspiring writer should do:-
Part of my journey is the launch of this magazine TyneTales - I am planning to publish either monthly or bi-monthly dependent on volume of quality submissions so please feel free to submit to me at:-

Looking forward to the road ahead!

Everything that I’ve read so far seems to suggest that there are a number of things that any aspiring writer should do:-
- Read a lot – almost everyone agrees that in order to be able to write yourself you need to read widely – good or bad – anything you can get your hands on. I love reading – and spend a great deal of time doing this anyway – mainly sci-fi or graphic novels at the moment – so this should be no problem for me!
- Network with Other Writers – one of the best ways to understand and improve your writing seems to be to talk to others who are doing something similar. I’ve joined a few online groups and websites and hope to become an active member of these as time goes by – but part of the reason for this blog is also to ultimately meet other people in a similar position and to swap stories and techniques on trying to get some success through writing. Also hopefully to make some new friends and meet people that otherwise I wouldn’t.
- Write – the way to improve is to write a lot – practice the craft and as with anything you will get better. Again this blog is one of my attempts to start writing more regularly – but I also plan to start writing some fiction (both short stories and a novel) and will keep this blog updated on how that goes!
- Have fun – so this is mine. I don’t want to put any pressure on myself at the moment. I think that I want writing to become something I enjoy doing for myself and if it becomes a chore then that kind of defeats the object for me.
